The Latitude D830 redefines the mainstream corporate notebook with an innovative new wide-screen design, excellent reliability, smart security & extended wireless options. The D630 facilitates increased productivity across the enterprise with the latest technologies available in a reliable but secure platform. The Latitude D830 is designed for users who require performance, mobility and convenience in the work place. Starting at 4.37lbs/ 1.98Kg* the Latitude D830 meets the customer need for a durable notebook with an ideal blend of the latest technology and mobility.

Wide Array of connectivity ports

The Latitude D830 has all of the standard ports and slots required for everyday business applications. Headphone and microphone jacks, an IrDA port, and one Type II PC Card slot line the left edge. The slot includes an embedded smart-card reader that lets employees store and read their passwords and other info on optional smart cards (the cards are available in a number of sizes and prices from various third-party manufacturers). Two speakers with middling sound occupy the front-edge corners. 3 USB 2.0, S-Video-out, 56Kbps modem, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, VGA, and serial ports stretch out across the rear edge.

Ergonomic slick design

The silver D830 is a smaller, sleeker version of the gray C600, measuring 1.2 by 12.4 by 10.1 inches and weighing an easy-to-tote 4.4 pounds. It still includes an internal swappable bay that houses a second battery or one of various drives: CD, DVD, CD-RW, DVD/CD-RW, floppy, or a second 160GB hard drive.

The Latitude D830 series includes both a pointing stick in the middle of the spacious, comfortable keyboard and a touchpad centered in the wrist rest. There are four mouse buttons: two below the spacebar and two below the touchpad. Three handy buttons for volume--Up, Down, and Mute--are located in the upper-left corner above the keyboard.

The Smart Card reader requires both a card and a password for the operating system to boot up, and you can add the optional fingerprint reader to your system for the third level of user security. Plus, with the added security of a standard slot for locks, optional notebook tracking software and compatibility with leading security software, your D830 is safe from hackers, thieves and malicious viruses and worms.

The D830 is designed with wireless connectivity as a priority. It offers premium Wi-Fi productivity with dual-band Wi-Fi for connecting to any 802.11 a, b or g network and a special Dell Wi-Fi CatcherTM Utility that constantly scans for wireless hotspots and notifies you whenever it detects one. Plus, with the integrated mobile broadband capability, you can connect to work resources using national cellular networks.
